I had a great idea for an app last night but I am not a programmer so I need some assistance.
I wish to ensure this doesn’t happen again, or at the very least I don’t waste another eight bucks on the exact eyeliner I already bought because I forget whatever weird name Maybeline gave to it. So my idea for an app is called Like/Dislike and you’d be able to scan barcodes, or browse for products or manually type in names and add it to your profile as a like or dislike. That way when you go to the store you can look up the product to see if you have already tried it and what you thought of it.
But that’s only the beginning. Let’s say you’ve never tried it, but your friends have, you’ll be able to see their opinions as well. Now let’s say neither you, nor your friends have tried it, you’ll also be able to see an overall approval rating by other Like/Dislike users. Now, ideally, you’ll be able to break it down like say, maybe women 35-40 like this eye liner/nail polish/shampoo whatever but women 25-30 don’t so much.
Additionally, I’d like users to have the option to link the app to their Yelp and Amazon accounts etc so that it extends beyond products in retail stores onto online shopping and restaurants and other local services.
Eventually I’d like to get major publications like Cosmo or Glamour to put their likes or dislikes on products, though I do realize that they are compensated financially for this. I’d also like professional film and restaurant critics to link their opinions to the app as well so it’s all in one convenient place.
So this is my idea. I don’t think there is anything like this out there right now (at least nothing I can find) I think it’s all doable, unfortunately I am not a programmer or a designer. SO if you’re reading this and are one, or know anyone who is please leave me a comment and let’s make this happen!
